As we know February is Black History Month, this month is supposed to acknowledge African Americans that have helped contribute to society. Apparently, a New York social studies middle school teacher Patricia Cummings had a didn’t agenda in mind when she instructed her black students only to lay face down on the floor.  It has been stated that she even stepped on the back of several students, asking them questions like  “How does it feel to be a slave?”.  Cummings has received a lot of backlash from this incident which has resulted in her currently being suspended. The principal has assigned counseling sessions for the students and sent out a letter to parents expressing sympathy that such actions occurred on school grounds.
