New York’s first African-American female appointed to the New York Court of Appeals was found dead in the Hudson River.

A call came into the New York Police Department about a body being spotted in the Hudson River.  It was New York Court of Appeals Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed Abdus-Salaam to the state’s highest court in 2013 and is hailed as a trailblazer.

An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation is still underway.
