A rare photo of Harriett Tubman from what is believed to be in the timeframe of 1860 was auctioned off and sold for $161,000.
An album containing the photo of the 19th Century Abolitionist went on the auction block in New York.  Swann Galleries is the company who did the auctioning, said that the pre-sale price was far below the actually selling price.
The actual photo shows Harriett Tubman sitting in a chair and it’s believed to be in either 1868 or 1869.  At the time she was in her mid to late 40’s; while most photo’s of her shows her in her older age.

The winning bid was made by phone by Lion Heart Autographs, a Manhattan-based dealer.
