Tim Joseph, an anti Trump protester, was attached last night while protesters gathered at the Student Union on The Ohio State University campus.  The attacker was identified as OSU student Shane Michael Stanton of Worthington.  Initially assault charges were pressed and the story went viral.  But Tuesday it was announced that Stanton was developmentally disabled and all charges against him are being dropped.

Joseph is part of the International Socialist Organization and a statement was released by the organization via Facebook,

Since last night, however, we have learned that the man, an OSU student, is not a right-wing activist and was himself upset by the Trump election. We have received further information we will not disclose to protect the man’s privacy, but which has made us confident he should not face charges for the action.

This was the first violent anti Trump protest in Columbus
