The Republican-controlled U.S. Senate confirmed Jeff Sessions at attorney general Wednesday night following a contentious debate and a stream of controversy about the immigration hard-liner having a racist past.

Throughout the duration of the hearing, several protesters erupted into fiery condemnation of Sessions and were escorted out by security.
