President Trump Signs A Resolution Related To Financial Reform

Praise the Lord! After the longest government shutdown in U.S history (35 days,) Trump has signed a bill to reopen the government. According to thehill.com, Trump agreed to fully reopen the government for three weeks – until Feb. 15 – as part of a deal that did not include money for a border wall, which had been the top sticking point in funding talks for weeks. About 800,000 federal workers across the nation were furloughed or forced to work without pay during the shutdown that started on December 22. Many workers have now missed two full paychecks.

Workers will be received back pay “at the earliest date possible,” according to the directive in the bill. It is clear that congress is not willing to allow funds to be spent to “build the wall,” but it unclear what will happen once we’ve reached the end of this temporary bill.
