A horrific accident occurred when a commuter train crashed into a platform Thursday morning, killing 1 person and injuring 114 people, according to NBC News.

Witness report chilling visuals of people on the platform falling, injured passengers and pinned underneath the rubble. Riders had to break through windows in order to escape and help one another to safety. Hours after the accident, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie held a press conference after accessing the damage.

“There’s no evidence at this time … that it was anything other than an accident,” Christie said earlier on MSNBC.

Jamie Weatherhead-Saul, who was riding in the first car, said “the train just felt like it never stopped.”

“It didn’t slow down, it didn’t, it didn’t brake,” she said, shaking. “The lights shut off and people started yelling.”

An investigation is underway and New Jersey Transit has confirmed the multiple reports that the train was traveling very fast. Law enforcement do deny that this accident was caused by terrorism or was a deliberate act.

We will keep you posted on the latest.
