Join thousands of Americans to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 8th. Orange has long been the color of gun violence prevention and on June 8th residents, survivors, business owners, students, elected leaders, teacher, community leaders, parents and kids in Columbus will join together to #WearOrange and show indisputably that there is a movement of Americans committed to end gun violence.
What: A community gathering in Westgate Park, 455 S Westgate Ave, Columbus, OH to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and to bring awareness to the gun violence epidemic.
When: Saturday June 8, 2019 from 10:30am – 12:30pm @ Westgate Park
The plan: This event is being presented in partnership with Radio One. We will hear from community leaders, gun violence victims and survivors. Thel Marching Band will lead us in a march around the perimeter of the park and the march will conclude with a balloon release to honor the memory of victims and survivors. There will be activities for the kids and attendees can learn more about the BE Smart! Gun safety program.
