Columbus police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place Tuesday morning at a CVS on the west side.

According to reports, police were called at 8:04 a.m. to 1515 West Broad Street on a report of a robbery. The suspect, who was armed with a gun, entered the business and demanded narcotics from the pharmacy. He then fled to a vehicle parked nearby.

An officer who arrived at the scene tried to stop the suspect from getting into the vehicle. The officer fired a shot, striking the suspect.

Police said the suspect onto into the vehicle and drove away before crashing at I-70 and West Broad. The victim in the crash was not injured.

Police have only named the suspect as a 38-year-old male. His name is being withheld as detectives look into whether he’s committed other recent robberies.

The suspect has been charged with aggravated robbery and that the car the suspect was driving was reported stolen.

There were no injuries to any officers, witnesses or victims. The shooting remains under investigation.
