With news of global terrorist attacks, racial tensions and social injustice in America, we all could use some good news.
GRAMMY® Award-winning Gospel and R&B singer Michelle Williams says she’s using her platform to promote the Gospel, which means good news, as part of London’s Gospel Prom 2016.
“I have an amazing platform and my job is to be a light wherever I am,” said the “Say Yes” singer on BBC “The One Show” Tuesday. The Christian vocalist is slated to perform and host at the Gospel Prom that will bring together a selection of handpicked singers from leading gospel groups to form an elite gospel ‘superchoir’ at the Royal Albert Hall Wednesday, July 19.
The Destiny’s Child member continued, “If I can bring joy and some good news through Gospel music, then I’m doing my job.”
During the 35-year-old’s sit down, she discussed the Black Lives Matter movement and Americans’ heightened state of consciousness about race relations in the states.
“At the moment people are aware, people are waking up, people are trying to figure out the next move to bring peace,” she explained. “We know there needs to be peace, but it goes beyond just tweeting about it, Instagramming about it. There is a movement going on and people want every life to matter.”
