With the weather is finally breaking, you know its about time for our beloved Buckeyes to hit the field for the 2019 Spring Game! This year Ohio State University is paying homage to one of its record breaking alumni.

OSU announced that Eddie George will be the honorary captain for the Spring Game this season. According to a press release, George will be on the sidelines this weekend with his honorary position for the game.

Eddie George is one of the all time great players in Ohio State football history. So you know fans are excited about this one!

“The team is thrilled to have Eddie George back in Ohio Stadium with them,” Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said. “This coaching staff is thrilled, as well. He is a tremendous representative of this school and this program and we are certainly honored that he’ll be able to take part in this spring game weekend.”

In his prime, George was considered the best player in college football in 1995. He was the recipient of the Heisman Memorial Trophy – Ohio State’s sixth – the Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year honor and Big Ten MVP accolades.

George still holds school records for most rushing yards in a season (1,927 in 1995) and game (314 vs. Illinois in 1995) and his 3,768 career yards rank third all-time.
