Make Plans to Join the Fun in Downtown Columbus!

 

It’s just about that time to drop the winter blues and say hello to beautiful weather in the city. The Columbus Commons plans to keep your summer fun-filled with plenty of events and activities for the family!

Tuesday, the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation announced a lineup of summer events to be held at the John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons. Between the abundance of Food Trucks and outdoor concerts to free fitness classes and free movie nights, the Columbus Commons looks like the place to be this summer.

The season will officially begin Monday, April 22nd, with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Tortilla opening and free carousel rides.

Food Truck Food Court will be returning this year on Thursdays, starting May 2nd. A total of eight trucks will be featured and two will rotate each month.

The Commons will again host free fitness classes with the first session beginning April 30th and second session July 30th. You can get keep your fitness goals checked off your list with cardio, yoga, hip hop, kickboxing and Zumba classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays. You can find the full fitness schedule below!

Family Fun Day has become one of the most popular events featured at the Commons. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, May 25th. Families can ride the carousel, make arts and crafts, and enjoy more outdoor fun. There will also be a free showing of a family friendly movie the evening of May 25th. Two other free family movie days are set for June 21st and July 19th.

Shadowbox Live will be making a comeback this year with two free performances this season. Performing their newest show, Leather & Lace: A Tribute to the Women Of Rock, on May 26th and Sept. 1st, they will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock with Back to the Garden!

Free Thursday concerts featuring acts like The Suffers and MojoFlow will kickoff July 11th and run through August 1st. The bar and food trucks will be open for business until 11 pm concert nights.

If you’re looking to have some big nostalgic fun, consider joining a summer sports league! Make sure you check out the Columbus Commons Kickball league. The league plays for two eight-week sessions with two game days a week. The first session begins on May 2nd. For more information visit their website at ColumbusCommons.org.
