Image result for Columbus Police recover body from Scioto River

According to Fox 28, police are not yet confirming the identity of a body that was found in the Scioto River on Saturday, saying the coroner must make an official identification before that is known. The location is only a mile downstream from where a well-known local activist was reported missing in January.

A Columbus Police spokesperson said Saturday that the search had been planned in advance, pending the weather. The spokesperson did not say whether that search was specifically meant to look for any particular missing person.

Since January, several local search parties and rallies have been held to help find Amber Evans, with no success. Amber’s mother and father both declined comment through a family friend on Saturday, and said they were waiting for an official identification on the body before saying anything further.

The Saturday morning search was a joint effort with members of the Columbus Police Special Victims Bureau, working with the Columbus Police Dive team. The teams worked in the area of the Whittier Street peninsula. The Franklin County Coroner’s office was called in to work with the detectives.

Police say additional information will be available pending the outcome of the Coroner’s investigation, and identification.

My timeline has been blowing up. Many are speculating that it is Amber Evans and others are still hopeful. My thoughts are prayers are for all those who are waiting to hear word about a missing loved one.
