Born and raised in Indianapolis, André Carson grew up in a family that taught him the importance of hard work, caring for others and public service.

A graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, Carson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management from the Concordia University-Wisconsin, and a Master’s in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Growing up he was known as the grandson of his predecessor, former U.S. Representative Julia Carson, however over the years the Congressman has created his own lane, who is known for his dedication to public service and an advocate for Hoosier families.

Since being elected to serve the 7th Congressional District in 2008, he has focused on growing the economy, strengthening national security and building a stronger middle class.

Plus, as one of two Muslims serving in Congress, Carson is also a champion for vulnerable populations and is committed to ensuring everyone has protection equally under the law, while also being involved in the fight to achieve gender fairness, religious freedom, and marriage equality.
