February is Black History Month. It began as “Negro History Week” in 1926, and was created by noted African American historian and scholar Carter G, Woodson. By 1976, it became a month-long celebration. While its unconfirmed, reports say February was chosen for Black History Month to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
