According to Fox 28, the recent government shutdown isn’t preventing TSA from hiring more staff. Saturday, hundreds of people applied to become a TSA worker at a job fair in Dublin.

This purpose of this fair was to hire and get people trained as soon as possible. The “fast track” fair took place at the Embassy Suites hotel on Saturday.

“We’re probably about 30 people down or so,” said Scott Lorenzo, an assistant federal security director for the TSA. “So, that will make a big difference. If we get 100 people out of this then you have people in the hiring pool.”

The great thing about this job fair is that it cuts down the hiring process by half.

“I’m looking to get involved with law enforcement,” said TSA applicant Alexander Caldwell. “ So, I figured this would be a good step.”

Even though several TSA employees didn’t receive a paycheck for close to a month because of the shutdown, applicants who attended the fair said they aren’t worried.

“I’m hoping that the government shut down will be done by the time I would be hired if I get hired,” said Caldwell.

Hopefully a permanent solution to the government temporarily reopening will be found before these potential new hires get adjusted to their positions.
