Governor John Kasich has ordered all public flags in Ohio to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the shooting victims in Pittsburgh.

With the order, flags will be flown at half-staff through Saturday, November 3rd. Below is Governor Kasich’s full statement.

In honor of the lives of those slain today at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and in solidarity with all who mourn them, I hereby proclaim by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio effective immediately through Saturday, November 3rd.

Our hearts are heavy for the victims of today’s hate-filled attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, for their families and for all who have been affected. I’ve ordered that all flags across the state of Ohio be lowered to honor those who perished today.
