The Columbus City school district is buying the old ECOT building. The mall served as headquarters for the massive online charter school that closed in January because of an $80 million debt in public funding.

Columbus City Schools reportedly had the winning bid of more than $3.1 million. Added fees raised the total cost above $3.4 million.

ECOT’s assets are expected to be used to pay creditors.
