A local resident tells her chilling story about the night that has shaken a nation.

Robin Lewis from Columbus was one of the lucky concert goers who was able to walk away from the Las Vegas mass shooting.

Lewis had left her friends in the middle of the Route 91 Harvest Festival to go to the bathroom. On her way, she heard the first of series of gunshots.

Suddenly I heard a noise. Didn’t really know what it was, it sounded like fireworks,” said Lewis. “Jason Aldean was running off the stage, ducking. Everyone was screaming. Everyone was just running. It was like mass chaos.

Lewis said people did not run away from the gunshots for they didn’t know which direction they were coming from. Once she saw the performer Jason Aldean run off the stage, that’s when everyone panic.

“As soon as he started running, everyone panicked,” she said. “It didn’t matter where you were standing, people were getting hit everywhere.”

People were hiding under cars and finding any shelter to avoid getting shot.

It was 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. It was literally sprint for 30 seconds and find somewhere to hide, and then you would hear 30 seconds of gunshots,” said Lewis, who said she believes Paddock was using an automatic weapon.

Lewis was able to reunite with her friends once she regains cell service. They all are still shaken up and are waiting to get a flight out of Las Vegas.
