BeBe Winans is mourning the loss of his dear friend, country music star Troy Gentry of the country band Montgomery Gentry. The singer was killed in a New Jersey helicopter crash Friday afternoon.
BeBe Winans wrote on his Facebook page:
My heart is heavy. Today I lost a very dear friend, Troy Gentry. May he rest in peace. Prayers and my heart going out to his family, friends, fans and loved ones.
According to Billboard, Gentry died from injuries sustained in a helicopter accident early Friday afternoon at the Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey. Gentry – along with one other passenger – perished in the incident. Gentry was in New Jersey, because his band Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to play a concert Friday night at the airport. The crash reportedly took place around 1 p.m. EST.
