When sadness, guilt or fear start to set in, they can be hard things to shake. But these feelings can only drive you crazy if you allow them to. Thankfully, the Lord has given us a weapon against any attack, spiritual or emotional: His Word.
Here are 7 pick-me-ups straight from your personal sword, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17):
Romans 8:37 (KJV)- “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Your emotions have no power over you except the power you give to them. The Lord has already given you the victory over this emotional attack, and the way to claim it is to speak the Word of God in belief that the battle has already been won.
Nehemiah 8:10 (ESV)- “… And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” When guilt comes to drown you in sorrow, remember that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). When fear tries to take you down, call Psalm 27:1 to the forefront of your mind. When sadness tells you that you won’t make it through today, think of Nehemiah 8:10.
Psalm 118:24 (NLT)- “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” If the Lord woke you up this morning, it’s a good day! He didn’t have to do it, but He did. Praise Him for the simple things, such as living to see another God-given day, as well as the amazing things, like being loved so much that you received a grace you did not deserve.
