Power Outage Strands Delta Airlines Operations Worldwide

History was made a few days ago in the friendly skies when Delta Airlines assigned Atlanta-based First Officer Stephanie Johnson and Detroit-based Dawn Cook together to fly a mainline commercial jet.

The fact that it’s two women is very unique, but that’s not what made this history.   What made history on this flight was that Johnson and Cook are both Black.

The first two Black Pilots took a commercial jet from Detroit to Las Vegas; and once they got there they knew that history had been made, so they snapped a picture once they landed.

This is nothing out of the ordinary for Stephanie Johnson, because she made history becoming Delta’s for African-American female Captain.  She was also Northwest Airlines First Black Female Pilot.

Congrats to Dawn Cook and Stephanie Johnson for their history making flight.
