It was always a matter of why more than when will we ever see a black “Bachelorette” or “Bachelor” contestant on ABC. Now we can finally say we will see a black woman get the opportunity to see if she can find her true love on the hit show.

Rachel Lindsay, 31, is an attorney from Dallas and will be a feature on an upcoming season, according to Variety.  ABC officially confirmed the reports on Monday night’s episode of  “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

It’s not news to many of us that there was a lack of color on the reality show since the beginning. However, the show’s creator said back in 2011 to Entertainment Tonight that finding black contestants came off as “tokenism” and that interested black people should “come forward.”

“Oh, we have to wedge African-American chicks in there! We always want to cast for ethnic diversity, it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would.”

Welp, Lindsay will be front and center when she gets to see her eligible bachelors to choose from and we can’t wait!
