It only took jurors in the Dylann Roof trial less than two hours to deliberate and find the white supremacist guilty of murdering 9 black Church goers in Charleston, South Carolina, church. As Roof told FBI agents in an interview “I am guilty.”

With this admission plus video from the Church, Mother Emanuel’s, surveillance camera catching the 22-year-old walking into the Church with a gun, and later walking out bloody. The jury of 12 found Roof guilty of 33 federal charges, from hate crimes to the obstruction of the practice of religion.

Roof spared Polly Sheppard, a 72-year-old retired nurse, on the night of the massacre because in his words “so she could live to tell the story.” 

“I was praying out loud,” Sheppard said during her emotional testimony. “He told me to shut up.”

Roof will face the jury again on January 3 to decide to put him to death or give him several life sentences for his crime.
