Washington Nationals’ Right Fielder Bryce Harper is currently 24 years old with two years left on his current contract. In two years he’ll be 26 and his agent has indicated that they will ask for $400 Million Dollars over 10 years; and if my Math is correct, and I’m pretty certain it is, that equates to $40 Million Dollars a year until he is 36 years old!!!
The Baseball world news was being dominated this week by a possible trade for the Nationals about a strong pitcher, but this Bryce Harper news had totally disturbed that.
Now the question is: can the Nationals afford him or will they be willing to put that much money into one player. Harper has said that he might try the open market if the Nationals refuse to sign him.
