Mini Obama was just one of roughly 4,000 people who visited 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the final Halloween celebration of Obama’s presidency. (Insert major sad face.) POTUS handed out White House-labeled Hershey Kisses and FLOTUS handed out cookies on the South Drive—much to the surprise of many due to Michelle Obama’s commitment to healthy eating.

Along with the cookies and kisses, visitors received classic candies White House M&Ms, kettle corn, Bo and Sunny baseball cards and a healthy snack likely close to the FLOTUS’s heart: fruit bars. Although, the President certainly encouraged the kids to splurge on the sweets!

The White House shared their stunningly simple cookie dough recipe, below. And these cookies, which are quick and easy to make, can be easily customized with your favorite frosting or glaze for any holiday.

So, go ahead indulge, the President and First Lady said it was okay.

The White House Cookie Recipe

1 lb Sugar

1 tsp Vanilla

2 lbs Butter Sugar

1 tsp Salt

3 Eggs Sugar

3 lbs All Purpose Flour

Mix the butter and sugar till soft and well beaten. Then add eggs, vanilla, salt and half the flour. Beat on slow speed till mixed, then add the rest of the flour and mix until incorporated.

Push flat onto a cookie sheet and refrigerate overnight. Roll out to one quarter inch thick and cut out cookie shapes with cookie cutter.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 14 minutes and allow to cool.
