Whether it’s Idris Elba, Drake, your husband or boyfriend, women love beards! The question is, what is with a beard that is making women go crazy these days? Is this just a fad or a new standard of what women have for men.
A group of researchers at the University Of Queensland in Australia had these same questions and decided to do a study. They asked 8,520 women to look at pictures of men and rank them the highest to lowest based on physical attractiveness. At the end, the women ranked the men with stubble the highest when it comes to flings and bearded men higher when it comes to long-term relationships.
“Our findings suggest that beardedness may be attractive when judging long-term relationships as a signal of intrasexual formidability and the potential to provide direct benefits to females,” Dr. Barnaby Dixson, lead researcher, wrote in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology.
There you have it ladies, but don’t use this study to find you prince charming. Beard or no beard, always use your best judgement and get to know men you encounter based on your own interests and morals. If you are a woman that likes the bearded look, that should always be a little added plus, not the main thing you look for in a man.
