COLUMBUS, Ohio

At least two fires were caused by lightning and over 10,000 power outages were reported across central Ohio overnight as storms moved through the area.

One of those fires happened at the Chattem Village Condominiums at the corner of Ackerman and Kenny Roads in Upper Arlington. The fire was so large that it charred the brick and melted siding on the building. A second fire caused by a lightning strike happened in Pickerington on Tollgate Road. That home was destroyed. No injuries were reported at either location.

The storms also caused several accidents. I-70 East was closed at I-670 because of a crash involving a semi-truck around 2:00am. That crash was impacting traffic headed into downtown from west Columbus. The truck was jackknifed on the highway for several hours. Investigators were not sure what time the highway would reopen.
